Dyslexia Friendly School

As a Dyslexia Friendly School, we would like everyone to have a greater understanding of Dyslexia. Over the half term holidays, we would like all of the children to research (please see further information below).

As a Dyslexia Friendly School, we would like everyone to have a greater understanding of Dyslexia and how it affects many people in society. It has been reported that as many as 1 in 10 people in the UK could have Dyslexia. History has been filled with important inventors, scientists and political figures who have achieved incredible things, while living with Dyslexia, or exhibiting patterns of learning consistent with Dyslexia’s modern day diagnosis. Over the half term holidays, we would like all of the children to research someone who has overcome such a difficulty to become incredibly successful, e.g. Richard Branson, Whoopi Goldberg, Princess Beatrice, Orlando Bloom, Steven Spielberg, Sir Steve Redgrave, Tom Cruise, Keira Knightly, Walt Disney, Duncan Goodhew, Jamie Oliver, Albert Einstein, etc.  The children can present this as a poster and include illustrations, photographs, etc. All work should be returned to school when completed and by Monday 4th June 2018.
