Internet Safety

Please find information below on behalf of Miss Prior.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Further to the information sent before the half term break regarding internet safety, please find attached an information leaflet which may be of interest. There is currently a lot of media focus on possible online threats and ‘challenges’ to children’s safety and, whilst it is not clear whether this is a viral hoax or is based in fact, it does serve as a reminder that the best way to protect our children is by supporting them to develop safe online behaviours. Schools have been advised that naming certain apps or games can draw extra attention to them and actually promote any possible dangers by only identifying certain sites as harmful. It remains an unfortunate truth that children can be targeted or be vulnerable online through many different outlets, including gaming, downloading apps, accessing social media and even by participating in online groups with their friends. We therefore urge families to ensure that they maintain an open dialogue with children about their online presence, teach children how to recognise danger and stay safe and encourage children to share any concerns openly and honestly.

We will continue to share any tips, fact sheets and information available to us to support families with this. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like any further information.

Kind regards,

Miss Prior
