Physical Education

During Physical Education, children learn to compete, succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities.  They develop both individually and as team players, through sports leader challenges and inter-team sports competitions.  Our provision is highly inclusive, designed to meet the needs of all learners and encourage competitive participation at all levels.  Children learn about health and fitness, and how to become more physically confident. Lessons are designed to help children build character, and embed values such as fairness and respect and are taught both by school staff and professional coaches. A number of extra-curricular clubs are available throughout the school year and all children are offered the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sports. Teams from Woodfield regularly compete in local competitions in disciplines such as tag rugby, football, hockey, netball, swimming, basketball and cricket. Children in KS2 are taught to learn to swim through weekly visits to the swimming baths.
