Woodfield Primary School is a Wigan Local Authority Community Primary School catering for pupils in the 4-11 age range just outside Wigan Town Centre. We are a one form entry school and our admission policy allows us to have up to a maximum of 30 children in each year group.
We are delighted with our beautiful new building which was completed in May 2005. In addition to 7 traditional classrooms the school has a large hall, which serves as a dining room as well as being used for assemblies and PE. There are also separate rooms for group work, ICT, Art, Design and Technology and a Library. There are two extensive playgrounds and an all-weather pitch. We are presently developing the playground facilities through fund raising.
Woodfield is a Leading SEAL School; which means that we have been recognised for our commitment to the development of the social and emotional aspects of learning for all. Three members of our staff are Leading SEAL Teachers. We have been awarded a ‘Leading Aspect Award’ (March 2007) for promoting social and emotional health and well being.
We are also proud that we have been awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark, Eco School Status and the Wigan Quality Standard for Foundation Stage.
Whilst the Governing Body at Woodfield are totally committed towards raising academic standards and creating an excellent environment for learning, emphasis is placed on building the whole child and in helping individual children to reach their true academic potential and develop their talents and strengths.
The staff and governors at Woodfield School are totally committed to providing a secure and happy environment both for learning and for social development.
We are proud to welcome you to our school.
