Coronavirus
Advice for all parents/guardians |
Urgent action to be taken by Parent/Carer if a PUPIL tests POSITIVE
In line with national guidance, if a pupil receives a positive Covid-19 test result, you must inform school immediately, either via phone on 01942 243675 or via enquiries@admin.woodfield.wigan.sch.uk
During weekends and evenings please use the dedicated email line notification@woodfield.wigan.sch.uk
Please only use this dedicated out of hours email to report a PUPIL with a POSITIVE result.
Parent reminder:
In accordance with NHS guidance, if anyone in your household is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, they must arrange to be tested as soon as possible, and the whole household must isolate until the results come back. The three main symptoms are:
- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
Most people with coronavirus have at least one of these symptoms. It does not have to be more than one.

In accordance with school procedure, please inform us of any symptomatic household member, that we may update our records and ensure any necessary precautions are taken in school.

What parents and carers need to know about schools and colleges during the coronavirus
What action you can take:
A UK wide campaign has been launched to provide clear advice on how to slow the spread of Coronavirus.
Please help to support the campaign which promotes basic hygiene practices, such as regularly washing hands and always sneezing into a tissue, to stem the spread of viruses.
The Government and NHS are well prepared to deal with this virus.
You can help too.
Germs can live on some surfaces for hours.
- Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze.
- Bin the tissue, and to kill the germs, wash your hands with soap and water, or use a sanitiser gel.
- This is the best way to slow the spread of almost any germs, including Coronavirus.
